Sources and limits
Passenger-vehicle figures are compiled from Times of India, Navbharat Times, and AutoPunditz sales reports. Commercial-vehicle coverage lists prominent India CV makers, sourced from FADA retail reports (via TractorJunction/Business Standard) and OEM exchange filings; smaller/niche CV makers remain pending in months without a published monthly figure. Two-wheeler figures combine OEM domestic-dispatch releases (BikeAdvice, Autocar Pro) with VAHAN retail registrations (AutoPunditz), noted per month in code comments since the two bases aren't always available for the same month. Calendar-year 2024 figures (used to compute 2024 month-on-month and 2025 year-on-year growth) draw on manufacturer monthly releases and VAHAN data for the major brands; long-tail/minor brands for 2024 are estimated from 2025 trends and flagged in code comments. A handful of 2026 cells (e.g. BMW's PV figure some months, Hyundai's EV split in August) are left pending or lightly estimated where no reliable monthly source was found — flagged inline in code comments.
